Over the last couple of weeks, a lot has changed. I’ve been back in Spain and I’ll be here until the 5th of December. It’s always a pleasure to ride a bike here even with cold weather. I’ve also been riding track here so the struggle of getting 2 bike boxes on the flight out here was worth it!

So, the first thing I have to tell you all is I’m super happy to announce that I will be riding for Spanish Under 23 Escribano Sports Team. This is a really exciting opportunity for me especially as a first year U23.

I’d like to say a big thank you to Escribano for accepting me onto the team and my coach Cesar Neira for helping me get to this point to be a part of a fantastic team as a first year U23.

The second big piece of news is that I have made the decision to change my nationality to ride under the Irish flag. In the last few days I’ve had my foreign birth certificate application accepted. This is a massive help for me living in Europe as it allows me to stay here for as long as is required. Additionally this may give me a chance to represent Ireland at an international level but I’m under no illusion it’s not going to be an easy task. I will be proud to race under the flag of my late grandmother.

After all the excitement of announcements and changes, there is some work to do this weekend. Izzy, Santiago and I are off to Portugal going with Cesar to  compete at the International Bento Pessoa Trophy a UCI International track meet where Santi and I will be racing together in the Elite category giving me my first taste of Elite racing. I’m really excited to see how it goes and see what I can learn.

Stay tuned to my blog and consider subscribing too, not only to see how this race goes but my whole season for 2022 and trust me it will be a good one.

Thanks
Lance
